Last year was probably my first year at college studying Journalism and Mass Communication at Birla Global University. The experience that I have gained so far was something worth admiring. So today I am penning down my blog on the experience that I would let all of you know. Amidst the pandemic when the flow of adversity pulled us back, there I stood firm with the strength that I gained from this university.
With the online mode becoming the prime base for all of us at present, meeting new people and starting new topics in lectures became a bit difficult for me. The first year in college naturally had lot of new situations for me to get used to. It took a bit of time to know the people on campus whilst staying at home, even making friends as an introvert like me became a bit challenging. But the well-structured curriculum , classes and brilliant faculties made it a bit easy for me. I slowly started feeling like it only took me a few days to get into it and feel like it was a new home.
Becoming a student here was quite an easy transition for me overall, probably because I knew this was exactly what I wanted to do and where I wanted to be. My classes and presentations for both semesters have been really interesting and allowed me to experience some new things, offering up completely new opportunities I wouldn’t have gotten elsewhere. Although, I regret not being able to experience the campus life and the practical experience with the gadgets and equipment present on the campus, I haven't regretted joining this university.
Our extremely skilled faculty deliver innovative and interdisciplinary freshmen courses that fuse new ideas into the online learning platforms making it a lively learning process. The interactive classes helped me to boost my morale, confidence and overcome my fear. Every since then, whenever I give a presentation, I believe I am nearing my true potential. In the pandemic, our India witnessed a nationwide lockdown. All the sectors were drastically affected and education sector was one of them. Students attended the classes from the remote areas by the virtue of internet and smartphones. Great thanks to platforms such as Google and Zoom. Being a student in such situation, I am blessed and honoured to be a part of BGU's family. The institution quickly adapted the blended method of pedagogy I got the opportunities to participate in many national webinars arranged by our institution, which helped me boost my knowledge and experience through virtual one-to-one interactions with eminent personalities from esteemed organisations. I even got a chance of developing myself holistically besides my skills by the virtue of internship that my alma mater provided me.
I’ve visited the BGU Campus only 5 to 6 times so far. I would like to enunciate the beautiful and inviting infrastructure of BGU which is something worth writing about. Here, every pillar narrates an inspiring success story. As Benjamin Disraeli said, “Seeing much, suffering much, and studying much, are the three pillars of learning”. I remember the very day I got a chance to interview one of our professors, it was challenging for me as I had stage fear. But the way I got treated and supported is something still close to my heart. The way my seniors just stood headstrong by my side and supported me and helped me out with everything and the professor who just guided me through the questions. The code of conduct was overwhelmingly positive. That was the first time I was standing on a podium and delivering my best.
Although my first year ended by sitting at home, I never really thought I would have such an amazing experience. I can go on writing pages but here I have to stop and bid goodbye to my readers. Hope you had a great time reading about my experience, will be surely waiting to hear yours.
