The 3rd Annual Bankers’ Conclave, hosted by the Birla School of Commerce at Birla Global University on November 27, 2024, focused on the theme "Re-Imagining the Future of Commercial Banks: Competition, Consolidation, and Collaboration.", the event brought together distinguished speakers and attendees to discuss the evolving dynamics of the banking sector.
The program commenced with a formal welcome, the traditional lighting of the lamp, and the rendition of the BGU Kulgeet. Dr. Archana Choudhury, Dean (I/C), extended a warm welcome, followed by Dr. Nandita Bhattacharjee, Assistant Professor, who introduced the conclave’s theme.
The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Bibhudatta Mishra, Senior Vice President of Axis Bank, who provided insights on competition and innovation in banking. This was followed by Mr. Gouri Sankar Samantaray, Regional Head of DCB Bank Ltd and Mr. Manoja Moharana, Branch Manager IDFC First Bank., who discussed collaborative strategies for banking.
A panel session moderated by Dr. Radha Krishna Mishra offered an in-depth exploration of the transformative role of technology and financial awareness in shaping banking's future. Panelists highlighted the integration of digital advancements with traditional banking to enhance efficiency, security, and accessibility, while addressing cybersecurity risks and bridging the digital divide. The discussion emphasized fostering financial literacy to empower customers and adapting to changing consumer behavior using innovative financial tools.
The session underscored the need for collaboration between banking and technology professionals to build a customer-centric ecosystem. Key takeaways included leveraging digital platforms for trust, transparency, and inclusivity in banking services.
The event concluded with a Q&A session, final remarks by Dr. Mishra, a prize distribution ceremony, and a vote of thanks by Dr. Bhattacharjee. The event was coordinated by Mrs. Lopamudra Nayak and Mr. Aswini Kumar Bhuyan, Assistant Professors at Birla Global University.
