Workshop on Gender Sensitization Organized by ICC, BGU

Category: Media Coverage Date: 13 Mar 2025

The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Birla Global University (BGU) organized a Workshop on Gender Sensitization for the staff and faculty of BGU on 13th March 2025. The session was conducted by Mrs. Namrata Chadha, External Member of ICC BGU, Advocate, and former member of the State Women's Commission. The workshop aimed to raise awareness about gender sensitivity, workplace harassment, and the legal frameworks in place for ensuring a safe and inclusive work environment.

The event commenced with a warm welcome and introduction of the chief guest by Dr. Archana Choudhary, Chairperson of ICC BGU. Mrs. Namrata Chadha, in her address, provided valuable insights into workplace harassment and its various manifestations. She elaborated on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) Act at Workplace, outlining its key provisions and the mechanisms for redressal. She also discussed the importance of Internal Complaints Committees (ICC) and Local Complaints Committees (LCC) in institutions and local communities, stressing their significance in fostering a safe and equitable work environment.

The workshop was highly interactive, with faculty and staff engaging in discussions, sharing perspectives, and seeking clarifications on various aspects of workplace conduct and legal rights. Mrs. Chadha’s expertise and engaging approach helped the attendees gain a deeper understanding of gender-related issues and the necessary measures to combat discrimination and harassment effectively.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Ashna Siddiqui, Member of ICC BGU, who expressed gratitude to Mrs. Chadha, the university administration, and all participants for their active involvement and commitment to fostering a more inclusive and respectful workplace culture.

The workshop was a significant step towards creating awareness and strengthening institutional mechanisms to promote gender equity and ensure a harassment-free work environment at BGU.
