    The world is undergoing an unprecedented technological transformation, with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning emerging as the defining forces of the twenty-first century. From intelligent healthcare diagnostics and autonomous mobility to financial forecasting and smart manufacturing, AI and ML are reshaping every sector of the global economy — generating an extraordinary demand for engineers who can not only understand these technologies but innovate with them responsibly and effectively

    In response to this global imperative, Birla Global University (BGU), Bhubaneswar, is proud to launch the B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering with specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (B.Tech CSE – AI & ML) under the aegis of the Birla School of Engineering & Technology. This four-year, full-time undergraduate program is designed to produce technically proficient, ethically grounded, and industry-ready AI engineers who are equipped to lead in a rapidly evolving digital world.

    Rooted in the AICTE Model Curriculum for B.Tech CSE (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning), the program offers a carefully sequenced academic journey that spans eight semesters. The curriculum is structured around four foundational pillars: a strong mathematical and computational foundation in the early semesters; progressive specialization in core AI and ML concepts from the second year onward; applied research and project-based learning throughout; and industry integration via mandatory internships and live project engagements. Students engage with a rich blend of subjects including Probability Theory and Statistics, Data Structures and Algorithms, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Reinforcement Learning, Big Data Analytics, and AI Ethics — all of which mirror the competencies mapped by AICTE to produce graduates who are equipped to solve real-world problems at the intersection of technology and society.

The curriculum has been co-designed with aivancity School for Technology, Business and Society, Paris — one of Europe’s premier institutions in AI and data science — ensuring that BGU students benefit from internationally benchmarked pedagogy, research insights, and curriculum innovation.     The curriculum has been jointly developed with aivancity School for Technology, Business and Society, Paris — ranked No. 1 in AI education in France and among the top AI institutions in Europe. Founded in 2020 and accredited by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, aivancity is unique for its AI–Business–Ethics triptych. Through this collaboration, BGU students benefit from:

    • Internationally benchmarked curriculum modules informed by aivancity’s expertise in applied AI pedagogy.
    • A shared commitment to responsible and ethical AI development, woven into the curriculum design.

    Mandatory Industry Internships

    In line with AICTE guidelines, the program mandates structured industry immersion at three stages:

    • Summer Internship (after Semester IV): A 4–6 week live project engagement with an industry partner in an AI/ML domain.
    • Pre-Final Year Internship (after Semester VI): An extended internship for deeper, role-aligned professional experience.
    • Semester-Long Industry Project (Semester VIII option): Eligible students may undertake a full-semester industry project in lieu of campus-based coursework, earning academic credits alongside professional exposure.

    Focus on Portfolio Building through Hands-On Projects

    The program emphasizes demonstrable skills over credentials alone. Students build a portfolio of tangible, employer-ready projects across all four years:

    • Year 1: Computational foundations assignments — algorithmic problem-solving and introductory Python projects.
    • Year 2: Applied ML projects — supervised and unsupervised learning implementations on real-world datasets.
    • Year 3: Domain-specific team projects in Computer Vision, NLP, or Predictive Analytics using industry-standard tools.
    • Year 4: An original Capstone Project — model development, cloud deployment, or a research/startup prototype — mentored by faculty and assessed by industry experts.

    All major projects are documented and version-controlled through student GitHub repositories, providing prospective employers with direct, verifiable evidence of each student’s technical depth and problem-solving capability.

    Global Exposure through the Global Lecture Series

    A structured Global Lecture Series brings distinguished international voices into the BGU classroom — including academics from globally ranked universities, senior practitioners from multinational technology firms, AI ethicists and policy experts, and entrepreneurs who have built AI-driven ventures. The series is complemented by joint workshops with partner institutions such as aivancity, student participation in internationally accessible AI competitions, and opportunities for academic exchange — collectively broadening students’ professional networks and global perspectives well beyond the campus.

    Innovation Culture through Hackathons

    BGU actively fosters an innovation-first culture through competitive and creative challenges:

    • Semester Hackathons: Time-bound, problem-solving competitions — both internal and open to external participants — held regularly throughout the academic year.
    • National & International AI Competitions: Facilitated participation in Kaggle, Google AI, Smart India Hackathon, and other global platforms.

  • Eligibility

    Students to pursue BTech in CSE (AI & ML) at our university that stands as the best university for engineering in India should go with the following eligibility criteria:

    • Passes Class XII (or equivalent) in Science stream (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics), with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
    • Final year +2 students, who are expecting their results, can also apply.
    • Students with a diploma can be admitted through the lateral entry scheme without any entrance examination.
  • Certificate

    Upon successful completion of the program, the certificate would be issued by Birla Global University, one of the best private university in India for BTech.

  • Duration

    Program Duration: 4 Years (Full Time, 8 Semesters)

  • Scholarship
    • 20% waiver for students securing 70% or above in the qualifying examination and 70 percentile in JEE / 80% in BET.
    • 10% waiver for students securing 70% or above in the qualifying examination and 60 percentile in JEE / 70% in BET.

    Note: The entry-level scholarships will be spread equally across semesters. Attendance, Fee clearance & discipline of the students will be a prerequisite for award of entry-level scholarships.

    Fee Waiver

    • Students seeking admission to B.Tech, in order to avail scholarship, must have scored above 70% in 10th or 12th grades. Those who scored above 60 percentile in JEE are eligible for a 10% waiver on tuition fee, while those who scored above 70 percentile in JEE receive a 20% waiver on tuition fee. Alternatively, students who scored above 80% in the BET exam are also eligible for a 20% waiver on tuition fee.
