Birla School of Management, Birla Global University, organized an HR Conclave on 8th of November 2024, under the theme “HR in the Age of Disruption: From Stability to Agility.” Mr. Sankha Bhowmick, Group CHRO of WhiteOak Capital and former Vice President and Global Chief of Staff for Data Engineering business unit - Goldman Sachs, Hyderabad was the Chief Guest and Mr. Gopal Krishna Sinha, GM HR at SIS, New Delhi was the Guest of Honour in the inaugural session. The event was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp and the welcome address was given by Conclave Chair and Dean, School of Management, Prof. (Dr.) P. Nayak. Prof. B. K. Das, Registrar, Birla Global University shared his experience about HR practices and functions in the banking sector. The Conclave Convener, Dr. Archana Choudhary, Associate Professor, Birla Global University introduced the theme of the conclave.
The conclave’s discussions delved into HR’s evolving role in an unpredictable market, emphasizing resilience, agility, and the need for a growth mindset. The first panel, moderated by Dr. Archana Choudhary, centered on the topic “Resilience and Well-being in the Disrupted Workplace: Role of HR.” Mr. Bhowmick, Mr. Sinha, and Shri Hidayatulla Baig, Lead HR, Business Partner, at Capgemini Technology Services Pvt. Ltd., discussed the impact of digital transformation on employee wellness and emphasized HR’s role in fostering resilience through empathy, structured support systems, and flexible work models.
In the second panel, moderated by Dr. Snigdha Mohapatra, Co-Convenor of the conclave, speakers Mr. Ashwini Rao, CHRO at 1POINT1 Solutions, Mumbai, and Ms. Rishika Verma Vohra, Talent Acquisition Manager at Blusmart, New Delhi, explored the theme “Navigating the Talent Landscape: How HR Can Foster Agility in a Rapidly Changing Workplace.” Panellists highlighted the shift towards skill-based hiring over traditional metrics, emphasizing adaptability, critical thinking, and continuous learning as essential qualities. Ms. Vohra stressed that cultural fit and soft skills are now as crucial as technical proficiency, advising candidates to demonstrate initiative and versatility.
Across both panels, the speakers underscored the ABC mantra—Agility, Bravery, and Change—and advised students to focus on internships, networking, and hands-on experience to enhance employability. Embracing a growth mindset, upskilling, and balancing innovation with empathy were identified as essential to navigating future uncertainties.
The HR Conclave 2024 concluded on a note of optimism, reinforcing the belief that a dynamic, adaptable HR culture is key to thriving in today’s disruptive environment.
