On August 2, 2024, the School of Law, Birla Global University held the Commencement Day Program for the B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons) 2024-29 batch in the Seminar Hall. Prof. Sukanta Kumar Nanda, Dean, School of Law, welcomed the new students and their parents, encouraging the students to face life's challenges with courage and dedication, inspired by Swami Vivekananda's resilience.
Prof. B.K. Das, Registrar of Birla Global University, outlined the numerous opportunities available for law students and graduates. He emphasized the importance of aiming not only for commercial success but also for sensitivity towards the underprivileged. He also introduced various student clubs like the Legal Aid Cell and Pro Bono Club for meaningful engagement.
Prof. P.K. Sarkar, Former Professor at KIIT University and Utkal University, addressed the gathering as the Guest of Honour, stressing the value of internships and practical learning. The Chief Guest, Mr. Nikunja Kumar Sundaray, IAS (Retd.), motivated the students to set ambitious goals and avoid complacency with small achievements in his engaging speech.
Prof. P.P. Mathur, Vice Chancellor of Birla Global University, in his Presidential Address, highlighted that law intersects with every profession and applies equally to all citizens. Dr. Bhavana Sharma, Associate Professor at the School of Law, administered the pledge to the new students, while Mr. Soubhagya Sundar Nanda, Assistant Professor at the School of Law, delivered the vote of thanks. The event was hosted by Miss Aditi Das, a 5th-year student at the School of Law.
