Birla Global University (BGU) proudly celebrated its 9th Foundation Day in conjunction with Utkal Divas, marking a significant milestone in its journey of academic excellence. The grand event was held on April 1, 2025, at the University campus, with a distinguished gathering of students, faculty, staff, and dignitaries.

The proceedings commenced with the soulful rendition of the University’s Kulgeet, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp ceremony, symbolizing the triumph of knowledge over darkness.

The event's highlight was the Foundation Day Lecture delivered by Prof. Devanath Tirupati, Executive Provost of Ahmedabad University and former professor at IIM Bangalore and IIM Ahmedabad. In his captivating address, Prof. Tirupati elaborated on the evolution of higher education in India, tracing its growth across the pre- and post-independence eras in both government and private sectors. He also acknowledged the Birla family’s enduring contributions to the advancement of education in India, a legacy rooted in the colonial era.

Prof. Kulbhushan Balooni, Vice-Chancellor of BGU, addressed the gathering, paying tribute to the University’s founding members and recognizing the pivotal role of previous office bearers in shaping and nurturing the Birla legacy.

The event also featured a warm welcome address by Prof. B K Das, Registrar of BGU, who highlighted the transformative journey of BGU from its earlier identity as BIMTECH Bhubaneswar, underscoring its growth and achievements.

In a gesture of gratitude, BGU honored 41 faculty and staff members who have dedicated a decade of service to the University, celebrating their invaluable contributions to academia and institutional development.

The occasion also witnessed the launch of the third volume of the University magazine, "Indradhanush," showcasing the creative and scholarly endeavors of the BGU community.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Ms. Lopamudra Nayak, Assistant Professor at BGU, followed by the rendition of the State Anthem of Odisha.

BGU also planted 41 trees, demonstrating its commitment to sustainability, symbolizing growth, environmental stewardship, and a greener future.

The celebrations reflected BGU’s rich heritage, academic vigor, and unwavering dedication to fostering holistic educational growth and excellence.
