With the motto – “LET’S ACCELERATE THE CHANGE”, Birla Global University (BGU) and Sambad Digital, Sambad Group, together observed World Water Day 2023. On this occasion, NSS-BGU became the hosting partner to a noble initiative by Sambad Digital in launching the Logo that symbolizes our vision for the water and sanitation crisis; which is the United Nations (UN) aim to sensitize people on the importance of water.
Along with this logo, Sambad Digital also launched a 50 Days long Campaign with a mission to sensitize B-School students by organizing different contests and competitions on three themes - i) Innovation in water conservation and sanitation (PPT Presentation), ii) Water Conservation and sanitation (Poster), and iii) Do not waste Water (Two Minutes Video).
The observance was graced by Prof. (Dr.) B. K. Das, Registrar, BGU, and Shri Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, Chairman, Eastern Media Limited (Sambad Group), and MLA of Khandapada, Odisha, and Mr. Arabinda Das, CGM, News, Sambad. Prof. (Dr.) P.P. Mathur, Vice Chancellor, BGU graced the observance and the success of the campaign (In absentia).
The launching ceremony was followed by a panel discussion on the theme "Accelerating the change to solve the water and sanitation crisis.” The panel members include Dr Manas Mishra, Founder & Convenor, Odisha Jal Biradri; Dr Sony Pandey, Principal Scientist, Environment & Sustainability, CSIR-IMMT; Prof. (Dr) Sharmila Subramaniam, Principal, Astha School of Management; Mr Mairajul Haque, Co-Founder, Acre Rise; and Mr Rajesh Garg, Managing Director, Mangalam Tank Pipe & Sanitary Moderator. Mr. Rudra Narayan Das, Digital Head, Kanaknews, moderated the discussion.
With a mix of panel expertise across different domains, from Environmentalist & Social Activist, Scientist, Educationalist, Infrastructure, and Industrialist, the outcome of the panel discussion converged with an appeal to all stakeholders, starting from Govt. to the Community for equal participation to understand the value and sensitize the significance of Water to accelerate and manage the change to solve the water and sanitation crisis in coming days. Dr. Siddharth Misra, Assistant Professor, Birla School of Management, and Mr. Lingaraj Lenka, Head, Sambad Digital felicitated the panelists.
Ms. Chinmayee Harichandan, a student of B.Com. was the host anchor. Prof. Lopamudra Nayak, Convener, NSS-BGU, and Assistant Professor, coordinated the program execution with other team members. Team NSS extends its gratitude to the BGU management, all faculties, and staff for their direct and indirect support in organizing the program.
