Commencement Day Program 2019 of Birla School of Communication

Birla School of Communication,Birla Global University, Bhubaneswar, today organized the Commencement Day to welcome its 7th batch of MAJMC and 3rd Batch BAJMC (Hons) students at its Gothapatana Campus. The program was graced by Ms. Monika Nanda , Senior Producer,Histroy TV 18,as Chief Guest and Dr. Ashok Kumar Panda,CGM, SANMARG as Guest of Honour. Mr. Nilambar Rath, CEO, Odisha Live was the Chief Speaker on the occasion.

Addressing the students Ms. Monika Nanda said that the profession of journalism has come a long way from print to digital era. She said profession of journalism today is not restricted to newspaper and television. Instead there are many allied fields like Public Relations, Advertising, Web Journalism, Mobile Journalism etc any of which can be a rewarding career for young aspirants.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Nilambar Rath said the digital media has emerged as the main stream media and advised the students to equip themselves with the nuances of digital journalism, so that they can meet the challenges of the future.

Dr. Ashok Panda emphasized the importance of working on both content and presentation to become an effective communicator. He also said that to become a professional journalist one should try to establish truth with courage and commitment.

Welcoming the new batch students Dr B.K. Das,Registrar BGU assured the students that the best education and training would be imparted to them to groom them as future journalists. In his welcome address, Prof. Shiv Shankar Das,Head, Birla School of Communication urged the students to be tech-savy and multi skilled communicators for making a mark in the field. The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Prof. Tulika.
