Commencement Day Program of BAJMC(Hons) 2017-20 Batch & MAJMC 2017-19 Batch

The commencement day program for the first batch of BAJMC(Hons) and fifth batch of MAJMC students of Birla Global University was held on 25th July, 2017 at its campus in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

Renowned academician and Former Head of Dept. Journalism& Mass Communication, Berhampur University , Dr. J S Giri Rao and eminent journalist Dr. Ashok Kumar Panda, General Manager & Editorial Coordinator- Sanmarg, Bhubaneswar graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Chief Speaker.

Speaking on the occasion,Dr J S Giri Rao urged the students to be diligent while pursuing the course and acquire the expertise to be a successful journalist. Providing the mantras for success in this field, he advised the budding journalists to work on their writing ability, content as well as presentation skills. Heaping praise on the infrastructure provided by the university, he said that it will play a big role in creating communicators of high calibre.

Reiterating the need for media practioners to be the true voice of the common people, Dr Ashok Panda said the press cannot let go of its social responsibility. He advised the students to act as catalysts of positive change in our society.p>

Dr. Sudhakar Panda, Vice Chancellor, Birla Global University extended a warm welcome to the esteemed guests, dignitaries, new students and parents on this occasion. In his welcome address, the Vice Chancellor described journalism as a noble profession and has rendered yeoman service as one of the pillars of democracy.

Addressing the students, Dr. B.K. Das, Registrar, Birla Global University, initiated the new entrants to the sphere of journalism education and life in the campus. The university, he said, would surely play a pivotal role in transforming them into accomplished media professionals.

Proposing the vote of thanks Prof. Shiv Shankar Das, HOD, School of Communication said that the university constantly endeavours in upgrading its academic offering and will equip the students with the capability for realizing their dreams.
