Birla Global University, Bhubaneswar organized the commencement day program of newly admitted students of BBA on 24 July 2023. Mr. Kailash Chandra Gahir, MD & CEO, Milk Mantra, graced the function as the chief guest. Mr. Tanmay Mohanty, Founder, CEO & MD, Luminous Infoways, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.
The program started with the rendering of the “Kulgeet” (University Anthem) and lighting of the ceremonial lamp by all the dignitaries. Dr. Parameswar Nayak, Dean, Birla School of Management, BGU, delivered the commencement day address by highlighting the importance of preparing oneself for the ‘brittle', 'anxious', 'nonlinear' and 'incomprehensible (BANI) World. He cited a couple of stories highlighting the importance of common sense and also shed light on the significance of 3D’s i.e. dream, dare and do. Dr. B. K. Das, Registrar, Birla Global University spoke on crucial phase of change for the newly admitted students. He also advised the students to enjoy freedom with responsibility. The guest of honour Mr. Tanmay Mohanty, asked the students to discover their own strengths and core competencies while pursuing the BBA course. Mr. Mohanty made the students understand the importance of health and rightly suggested the importance of managing oneself before managing others. He also apprised the students of the plethora of career options which they can pursue in future. The chief guest, Mr. Kailash Chandra Gahir cited the example of Amul and the way it revolutionized milk sourcing and consumption in India. According to Mr. Gahir, detailing is the mantra of success in one’s life. He urged the students to avoid being casual in life, pursuing their dreams and partake in peer-learning for self-improvement. Prof. P. P. Mathur, Vice-Chancellor, Birla Global University gave the presidential address and said that students should feel blessed to be born in this world of opportunities. He outlined the pivotal role BGU has to play in enhancing the personality of students. Prof. Mathur opined the students not to dream small but big. He also provided the examples of brands such as Nirma, McDonalds and KFC and the way the founders had chased their dreams and passion. Then Dr. Nayak asked the students to take pledge of honour code. The commencement day concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Satyakama Mishra, Assistant Professor, and BBA Program Coordinator, Birla Global University. The event was attended by Deans of other schools, faculty members, parents and newly admitted students of the BBA program.
