The Birla School of Economics at Birla Global University hosted the Economic Conclave 2025 on the theme "Innovation and Economic Growth: Role of Financial Technology." The event brought together academicians, industry leaders, and policymakers to discuss the evolving financial landscape and its impact on economic growth. It began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by a welcome address from Dr. Ajit Kumar Dash, Convener of the event. Dr. Amritkant Mishra, Co-convener, introduced the theme, highlighting the transformative role of financial technology in the economy.
Prof. Rudra Sensarma from IIM Kozhikode delivered the keynote address, discussing the disruptive potential of fintech in modern economies and the importance of regulatory frameworks and collaborations for sustainable growth. His address was followed by a Q&A session, allowing for further engagement on the financial sector's transformation.
The conclave featured two panel discussions. The first, "Automation to Collaboration: The Changing Dynamics of the Financial Sector," moderated by Dr. Amritkant Mishra, included experts like Mr. Debiprasanna Das from Axis Bank, Dr. Pradipta Kumar Sanyal from Birla Global University, and Ms. Shilpi Chaudhry from Google Cloud India. The discussion focused on the shift from automation to collaborative financial models using AI, blockchain, and cloud technologies.
The second panel, "Innovation in Fintech and Macro Economic Risk Management: Role of AI & Big Data for Inclusive Growth," moderated by Dr. Ajit Kumar Dash, included Prof. Rudra Sensarma, Dr. Satyakama Mishra, and Ms. Tricha Sharma from the Reserve Bank of India. They discussed the role of AI and big data in managing macroeconomic risks and promoting financial inclusion.
The event concluded with addresses by Prof. Brajendra Kumar Das and Prof. Kulbhushan Balooni, emphasizing industry-academia collaboration in shaping future financial policies. The session also featured a prize distribution ceremony for outstanding contributions by students and participants.
