The Legal Aid Society, Birla School of Law, Birla Global University, Bhubaneswar, organised a legal awareness program on “Consumer Rights” in the village of Gothapatana, Bhubaneswar, Odisha on 14th May 2022 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.
During the program, students addressed various issues with respect to the violation of rights of consumers i.e., right to safety against goods and services which may be hazardous in nature; right to be informed about quality, quantity, potency, purity, standard and price of goods; right to choose wherever possible, access to a variety of goods and services at competitive prices; unfair trade practices; right to be heard at appropriate forum; right to seek redressal and right to consumer awareness.
The students of the Legal Aid Society, Birla School of Law, also explained to the villagers the jurisdiction of different commissions available to every consumer as well as the procedure to get the remedies from the appropriate forum.
This program was organized by the members of the Legal Aid Society along with the students volunteers under the guidance of the Student Convener, Kartik Katariya (BBA LLB VIII Sem) Student Co-convener, Yashraj Patra (BBA LLB VI Sem) and Faculty Convenor, Dr. Bhavana Sharma (Associate Professor, Birla School of Law).
