National Conclave on Public Relations: An Effective tool for Good Governance

A National Conclave on the theme “Public Relations: An Effective Tool for Good Governance” was organized by Birla Global University (BGU) in association with Public Relations Council of India(PRCI) on 20 January 2018.

The program was inaugurated by lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest, Sri. Surendra Kumar,IAS ,Principal Secretary, I & P R, Govt. of Odisha. Dr. Sudhakar Panda, Vice Chancellor, BGU, Dr. B. K. Das, Registrar, BGU, Dr. Ashok Kumar Panda,Chairman,PRCI, Bhubaneswar Chapter and Prof. Shiv Shankar Das, Head, School of Communication, BGU and Convener of the conference in presence of faculty members, paper presenters and students.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest Sri. Surendra Kumar emphasized on working proactively for the people and then doing publicity for the good work. This he said was the mantra for effective PR. Terming technology as a great enabler, he remarked that it has made the Govt. machinery more pro-people.

Dr. Sudhakar Panda, Vice Chancellor, BGU deliberated on the impact of public relations in the present era and termed it as one of the most effective tool for good governance. Dr. B K Das, Registrar, BGU congratulated the conveners and spoke on the importance of image management and how it can play a pivotal role in the success of any organization, be it be Govt. or private.

The Chairman of PRCI, Bhubaneswar Chapter Dr. Ashok Panda remarked that in the present scenario PR is a vital ingredient for making people understand the benefits of different Govt. policies and its successful implementation.

Dr. P. Nayak, Dean, School of Management, BGU,said that PR can be a an important catalyst for good governance. While proposing the vote of thanks Prof. Shiv Shankar Das remarked this conclave will go a long way in bringing about a new wave of thinking in Public Relations.
