The Birla School of Commerce, Birla Global University initiated the Start-up Lecture Series for the students of the University. The first lecture of the series was held on 13th October 2022 on the topic “Start-up landscape: Opportunities and challenges”. The session was graced by Dr. Manisha Acharya, Founder Director of WEnuers Forum, Startup Advisor & Mentor, British Chevening CRISP Fellow at University of Oxford.
Prof. Samson Moharana, Dean, School of Commerce & School of Social Science & Humanities, Birla Global University delivered the welcome address and spoke about how startup is associated in every field and is unavoidable in todays era.
It was then followed by the address of Prof. B.K.Das, Registrar, Birla Global University who emphasized on banking sector link to start-ups.
Prof. PP Mathur, Vice Chancellor of BGU addressed the participants by motivating students to be an entrepreneur and to follow their passion. He also discussed about unicorns.
The Resource Person, Dr.Manisha Acharya gave great insights in her address where she talked about various aspects of Start-ups, the opportunities and challenges in startups and steps to overcome them. She emphasized on the start-ups in Odisha and the role on incubators. Incubators play a vital role in start-up, the government and corporate schemes which enables startups to initiate and enlarge themselves. She also talked about the WEneurs, a women starup forum where it focuses on Incubators to help Women Innovators / Entrepreneurs in order to commercialize their innovations/ business ideas.
The session included a Q & A session where Dr. Acharya answered the queries of students. The session was well received and appreciated by the students and fraternity of BGU and saw a large participation from all Schools of BGU.
