Birla Global University organized a Workshop on Women 2020: Transforming Lives on 29th February 2020 at its campus. The workshop was inaugurated by lighting of the lamp by Chief Guest Shri Bipin Bihari Mishra, Former Director General of Police, IPS, Distinguished Guest of Honour, Prof. (Dr.) Sasmita Samanta, Pro Vice Chancellor, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Deemed to be University, Guest of Honour Prof. (Dr.) Monica Das, Former Professor (Economics), Gargi College, Delhi University, Vice Chancellor Birla Global University, Prof. Sudhakar Panda and Dr. Archana Choudhary, Faculty, Birla School of Management and Workshop Convener. The Convenor welcomed everyone and introduced the theme of the seminar. Shri Bipin Bihari Mishra said that a woman who is a homemaker is also a very efficient leader with excellent managerial skills and play an important role in transforming the lives of others. Dr. Sasmita Samanta highlighted that even in 2020 there is less number of women in leadership positions in spite of their larger representation in academic institutions. She also emphasized on the need of creating an ecosystem that supports and encourages women in the workplace. Prof. (Dr.) Monica Das highlighted the role of education and health in improving the position of women. She also said that gender disparity is a universal issue. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Panda said that women have already proven that they are very efficient and reliable in every sphere of their lives. The vote of thanks was given by Prof. Lopamudra Nayak, School of Commerce, Birla Global University. The inaugural session was followed by Panel discussion. The Panel comprised of Prof. (Dr.) Monica Das, Former Professor (Economics), Gargi College, Delhi University, Dr. Amrit Pattojoshi, Neuro Psychiatrist, Hi-Tech Hospital, Bhubaneswar, Ms. Julie Nayak, Homemaker and Ms. Subhashree Dash, Founder, Audiotronics. Dr. Anubha Ray, Faculty, Birla School of Management was the moderator who engaged the panellists in a sensitively intriguing discussion.
