National Seminar on Economic Development: Rationality vs Populism

Birla School of Social Sciences and Humanities (BSS&H), Birla Global University, Bhubaneswar, organized a Two day National Seminar on ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: Rationality vs. Populism at its Gothapatana Campus on 9th and 10th Jan 2020. The Inaugural ceremony was graced by impressive delegates such as Prof(Dr) Pratap Singh Birthal, ICAR-National Professor, National Institute of Agricultural Economics and Policy Research, New Delhi, as Chief Guest. He pointed out regarding the Economic Development in the present scenario in relation with rationality and populism. Prof (Dr) Mohan Patel, Professor of Economics and Principal, NS Patel Arts College, Sardar Patel University, Gujarat was the guest of honor. Prof (Dr) Alok Kumar, Prof of Economics, St.John College, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Uttar Pradesh was another guest of honor. Prof.(Dr.) Biswambhara Mishra, Professor in the department of Economics, North Eastern Hill University, as the Chief Speaker. The welcome address was given by Dr Ajit Kumar Dash, Assistant Professor BSS&H. The inaugural ceremony was ended with the release of the Seminar Abstract Book in the presence of Prof.(Dr) Sudhakar Panda,Honorable Vice Chancellor ,BGU,Prof (Dr) B.K.Das, Registrar, BGU and Prof(Dr) Parameswar Nayak, Dean Birla School Management and Social Sciences and Humanities. The vote of thanks was given by Dr Debiprasad Bal, Assistant Professor of Economics, Seminar Convener. The inaugural ceremony was followed by panel discussion and three technical sessions. The panel discussion was chaired by Prof(Dr) Sudhanshu Sekhar Rath, Former Vice Chancellor Gangadhar Meher University, Sambalpur, Prof(Dr) Jagannath Lenka, Professor of Economics, North Odisha University, and Prof (Dr) Mitali Chinara, Associate Professor, Utkal University and Co-Chaired by Prof (Dr) Badri Narayan Rath, Professor IIT Hyderabad, Dr Narayan Sethi, Associate Professor, NIT Rourkela, Dr Bhupendra Bahadur Tiwari, Professor of Economics at Sri Ramswaroop Memorial Group of Professional Colleges, Lucknow. Eminent academicians joined the seminar and delegates presented papers on Socio-Economic and Financial Development, Politics and Economics of Populism, Corruption, income Inequality, Financial Inclusion, Issues in Agricultural Areas etc. The Chief Guest of the Valedictory session was Prof (Dr) Sudhanshu Sekhar Rath, Former Vice Chanceller Gangadhar Mehar University, and the Guest of Honour was Biswanath Das, Deputy General Manager, Odisha State Head, Syndicate Bank. He delived a talk on the Contemporary Economic Scenario and Role of Banking. The Valedictory session was ended with the vote of thanks given by Dr Seba Mohanty, Assistant Professor BSS&H.
