International Conference on Emerging Issues in Constitutional Law

The International Conference on “Emerging Issues in Constitutional Law” was successfully held on November 26, 2024. This prestigious event was organized by the Birla School of Law, Birla Global University (BGU), bringing together 185 participants and 12 eminent national and international resource persons. The conference served as a platform for academics, practitioners, and students to exchange ideas and research on pressing constitutional issues in a hybrid mode.

The conference commenced with the BGU Anthem (Kul-Geet) at 10:30 A.M., setting a solemn and vibrant tone. The inaugural session was hosted by Dr. Mitashree Tripathy, Assistant Professor, School of Law and Chairperson, Conference Committee. To formally inaugurate the event, Prof Sukanta Kumar Nanda, Dean of the Birla School of Law delivered the welcome address and recited the preamble of the constitution setting the tone for the celebration. His thought-provoking address reminded the audience of the Constitution’s role in shaping the democracy of the country. Hon’ble Justice Satrughana Pujahari, Chairperson, Odisha Human Rights Commission and Retired Judge, High Court of Orissa, served as the Chief Guest. Justice Pujahari delivered a thought-provoking address on the evolving nature of constitutional rights and duties. To deliver the Presidential Address, Prof. Kulbhushan Balooni, Vice-Chancellor, BGU, provided insights into the right to privacy as a fundamental human right that protects individuals from unwarranted intrusion into their personal lives and digital rights that are increasingly intertwined with fundamental human rights, demanding robust legal frameworks for their protection.
Post the series of addresses, there were two book launches namely Constitutional Philosophy of India and Separation of Power: Theory, Practice and Future followed by a Felicitation of Guests' authored by Mr. Prthivi Raj. Vote of thanks to conclude the session was delivered by Ms. Ashna Siddiqui, Faculty, School of Law, Birla Global University.
